May is Tribute Month

May is tribute month! This month, we are encouraging people make a memorable storybook about someone or something that has touched their lives.

We invite you to join Heritage Makers in this memorial month by creating your very own tribute book. Make a storybook about life, love, new babies, military service, special people in your life, or any meaningful story you never want to forget.

My beautiful mother!
I have been working on my own tribute book of my mother- she was 44 year's old when she passed away, I was 18 years old. I didn't realize just how hard of a book this was going to be to create but I know how important it is to get her story written for my sake and my kids. I am relying on 18 years of memories which to me is not alot when you look at the average person's life span. I sit and look of pictures of when she was a child and can't help thinking if she was a good student or talked to much in school?- I wished I would have asked her but then I thought I had a whole lifetime to find out. I wished I would have asked her about life as a teenager or when she first fell in love with my father- again I thought I had a lot of time. My point is get those stories told now. Ask the question's before it is to late. They say when someone passes away it is like a library burnt down. How true is that! That person's life and their stories and history are gone unless we preserve them. Just think how great it would be to sit down with your children with a book about your loved one and share their history with them. I can't wait to get my tribute book completed so my kids will get to know the real person and not just a face.

My job is to help people realize that everyone has a story to tell and to help them preserve their story.
